Cue “Also sprach Zarathustra”

Woodstock ParkWoke up this morning at 7:15, which is not unusual. Being woken up by Ben at 7:15 is also not unusual.

Being woken up by Ben standing in the bedroom and announcing “It’s morning! Wake up! It’s morning!” having gotten himself out of his crib is, for today and in the most accurate sense of the word, unique.

Mood: Pleased, alarmed. (Ben is just pleased.)

Update: Al stood in the door and watched him escape from his nap this afternoon. She described it as a deft process of slinging his legs over, hanging, then dropping, monkey-like, to the ground. Fortunately gates are already in place to keep him out of the study and corralled upstairs, so we’re just going ahead and converting the crib to a toddler bed a little earlier than I’d thought would be necessary. “Six or eight months,” I said sagely, not two weeks ago.
