I Hear Herbal Viagra Doesn’t Work So Well Either

Two bits of wisdom from this weekend:

First up, when you post an item to Craigslist and get an inhumanly fast reaction, it’s probably because someone from Nigeria would like you to mail the item to them on the strength of a promise that they’ve put a money order in the mail on their end.

I’m kind of curious about how they go about picking up items so quickly. I’d guess they have bots harvesting the listings, though one was personalized to reflect a willingness to pay a little over what I was asking to expedite things.

Anyhow … three of those this weekend, none of which have the time to come by and look at what I’m offering (or who live in Nigeria). I guess the worst they can get for their troubles is nothing.

The second bit of wisdom is this: If you gave money to your local NPR affiliate during its last fund drive a few months ago, you aren’t entitled to a special secret frequency that doesn’t have the fund drive programming this time around. Maybe they want more than $8 a month before they’ll give out that information.
